ANDY SECOMBE

Andy SecombeAndy Secombe is a Welsh born actor and author who acquired his love of fantasy at a young age but had to overcome a natural talent for prevarication and an acting bug which lasted thirty years (including appearances in two of the Star Wars films) before he was able to settle down to writing novels.

Son of Sir Harry Secombe, Andy started his career appearing in the legendary Playschool and its sister show, Playaway, with Brian Cant. He also played Rover the Dog in Chips’ Comic on Channel 4 and, much later, wrote and supplied some of the voices for the acclaimed animated series: Insektors, also for Channel 4. He has also penned episodes of Bob the Builder and Preston Pig and provided the voice of Watto in the Star Warsprequels, The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

It was while filming The Phantom Menace in the Tunisian desert that Andy, combining his passion for fantasy fiction with his love of comedy, started writing novels. In the long breaks between filming his scenes, and probably suffering from mild heatstroke, he came up with the plot of his first comic fantasy novel for adults: Limbo. He followed this with four more novels for adults and now, at last, he feels that he’s grown up enough to tackle children’s fiction with his first foray into that genre: Fire Over the Valley.

He lives with his wife, two sons, border terrier, spike-tailed lizard, Siberian hamster and assorted soft toys, in Cornwall.

Please note that the Viney Agency only represents Andy Secombe for his children's books.
